What is it?

This autumn, Strange Futures return to Malvern Cube with a new community performance project. Over 12 weeks, we will work with local people to explore stories of journeys — how we move through life, the experiences that shape us, and the paths that bring us to “here” from “there.”

Together we’ll use theatre, puppetry, movement, creative writing and music to bring these stories to life. As a participant, you can choose to share your own journey — or not — and work with others to write, perform, and shape some of these stories into performance.

You may have taken part in a previous workshop or project with us, or you may just be interested in trying something new in a welcoming, creative space.

what to expect?

Guided by Strange Futures and collaborators Rachel Freeman (movement) and Liz Dilnot Johnson (music), the project will build towards a shared community performance at Malvern Cube on Friday 12 December 2025.

Workshops begin on Thursday 25 September and run every Thursday evening, 7–9pm, in the theatre space at Malvern Cube. The first session is an open introductory workshop — come along, meet the team, and see if it’s for you. After the first or second workshop, we'll come up with a structure and need you to commit to a set number of Thursdays so we can rehearse and be performance ready !

The project is free to join and open to everyone aged 18 and over. No experience is needed — just curiosity, a willingness to be part of the group, and (after the first session) a commitment to attend regularly as far as possible.
